99 Bottles...on the wall- The UMDNJ Pyrex Show

Beakers, Flasks, Test Tubes and Petri Dishes!

The Winter of 2005, VAL, (Visual Arts League) spearheaded by New Jersey artist, Judith Wray & HARTS (The Healing Arts club) with Purvi Patel in the elad, began a project utilizing discarded Pyrex ware from all the different departments at the medical school. What was done, sparkles!

Together we have made a visual statement of experimentation, working and playing together, using the very things that medical students use in their work everyday.

This project has spilled over the walls of UMDNJ (University of Medicine and Dentistry-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, Piscataway, NJ ) leaping boundaries of all kinds. One day each week for a few eeks, the outside was invited in to paint small bottles at long tables, en masse! Students, staff, professional artists Girl Scouts, students from the Voyagers learning Center, random others, all participated in kicking off what now spans 50 feet of aerial space in the student lounge at UMDNJ, with plans to continue another 130 ft plus take a leap to the sides of 30 pillars.

The invitation continues-with a twist. Now we are inviting Digital artists everywhere, no age limit, to right click glassware posted on the website at valweb.org, work their magic in Photoshop and send the image back to us at valweb@valweb.org as a jpeg, if possible in a zipped file. Send background info and website, if available.
As an alternative option, artists can use their own glassware..the theme is experimentation.

We are looking to make a selection from what comes in to highlight in either a composite as the ones already posted or featured on the pillars. What we do depends on the response germinated..(oops!) generated!

Pieces chosen will be posted on the valweb site along with supplementary info and links to the artist.
